The Diamond Pushup

This "Diamond Pushup" exercise is another great way to shake up your chest workout. This pushup variation is performed with your hands close together underneath your chest and the thumbs and forefingers of each hand touching each other (in a diamond shape).

You lower yourself until your chest touches your hands and then push yourself back up. Diamond pushups will really work the inner chest muscles (over your sternum) as well as the muscles that line the ridge of your pectorals. The exercise creates an overall tightening effect. This is a great alternative to the broadening, muscle growth effect of a bench press exercise.

Diamond Pushups are also great if you want to see your triceps pop with bulging muscle. Changing up your routine with these is an easy way to create muscle confusion and avoid plateaus when it comes to seeing results. Check out the video on how to do the Diamond Pushup below.

Don't forget about focusing on your breathing when you do pushups. When you're lowering yourself to the ground, breathe in, and when you lift yourself up breathe out. Better breathing will lead to better form when you're doing your pushups.

Give the Diamond Pushup a try at least once a week in the rotation of your workouts. You'll be happy with the results.
